North East England Attractions and Activities
All too often the North East of England is bottom of the list and therefore misses out in favour of other UK regions. Sadly, missing the North East of England from your tour means that you miss out on some of the most beautiful landscapes, spectacular castles and historically significant sites in the world.
Home to the northern most frontier of the ancient Roman Empire, Hadrian’s Wall just marks the beginning of a region literally dripping with history and culture. The Viking city of York boast the most incredible gothic Cathedral in the world and one of the most beautiful cities to boot. Castles, Stately homes and ruined abbey’s abound in this region which is home to the spiritually significant Lindisfarne (Holy Island), Whitby Abbey and Harry Potter’s Hogwarts, better known as Alnwick Castle.
In this part of the world you will find real Yorkshire Pudding, real tea in Betty’s Tea Rooms, real gems in the Blue John Caverns and real Geordie folk in Newcastle. Castle Howard is one of Britain’s most beautiful Stately Homes and the unique Beamish Museum is a whole town that depicts life as it was a few hundred years ago. All in all, a fabulous area of the country just lies waiting to be discovered.
