In Northern Wales,a completely unique attraction has to be that of Portmeirion, an Italianate village. It has been made with amazing attention to detail to create a real fairytale setting next to the sea. It is also where the cult TV series The Prisoner was filmed.
Dolphin spotting is a popular activity with many visitors to the region of mid Wales. The area is renowned for its incredible array of marine life and there are pods of bottle nose dolphins which live on the coast here throughout the year.
The Centre for Alternative Technology just outside Machynlleth, uses 7 acres of interactive displays to show how we can live more sustainably with all kinds of solutions to some of the serious challenges facing our planet such as climate change.
Conwy also has the Smallest house in Britain at 72 inches wide, 122 inches high and was occupied until 1900. The last tenant was a fisherman who was six feet three inches tall! South of Conwy near Dolgorog, the World's largest garden maze set in 2 acres of beautiful countryside contains many hidden surprises.
In the Welsh Valley’s just north of Cardiff, you will find the National Mining Museum of Wales. This attraction includes a world famous underground tour where you can find out what life was like as a miner.
Around the stunning Pembrokeshire coast you can take an hour long cruise from Tenby Harbour and visit the seals living on the islands around Pembrokeshire. With plenty of bird life to be spotted, September is the ideal time to see newborn pups.
