Swansea and the Gower Peninsula
Birthplace of famous poet Dylan Thomas, Swansea, together with the Victorian seaside neighbour Mumbles make up an extremely vibrant region which also boasts the beautiful Gower Peninsular, Britain's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are 25 golden beaches on the peninsular some with stunning vistas, while others are tucked away in secluded coves amongst the Gower’s fascinating limestone cliffs. The peninsular also has a number of mysterious monuments including Arthur's Stone and Giant's Grave, engraved stones from the Dark Age.Swansea itself boasts award-winning parks and gardens, fantastic shopping and world class cultural and sporting facilities.
The small village of Mumbles contains a number of great little independent shops and boutiques as well as some of the area’s best dining choices.

The free National Waterfront Museum in Swansea explores the industrial heritage of Wales in 15 captivating galleries.
The Gower Heritage Centre situated in historical and beautiful surroundings is a vibrant crafts and rural life museum with a detailed history of the 12th century water powered corn and saw mill which has been renovated. There are many activities to take part in such as pottery ,feeding the animals and blacksmith and woodturning demonstrations.
The Dylan Thomas Centre houses a permanent exhibition of his life.
The well preserved Oystermouth Castle standing on a small hill in the village of Mumbles offers superb views of Swansea Bay as well as providing much to explore within its walls. Blackpill Lido is a must when the weather is good with its superb paddling pool, children's play area, climbing rock and picnic facilities.
Take a tour of Wales’ leading chocolate factory - Michton, and find out exactly how chocolate is made. Learn about the fascinating history of chocolate, just how and where the fantastic cocoa beans are grown, the guilty pleasures of the ancient Aztecs, Columbus’ big discovery, and lots, lots more.
You will get to see a real working chocolate factory, smell delicious chocolate being melted in the giant chocolate kettles, and taste all the different types of chocolate provided. Michton is a wonderful day out for families and individuals.

Brecon Beacons National Park located in South Wales north of Swansea, incorporates remote wilderness, caves windswept uplands, sheltered ancient woodlands, reservoirs and breathtaking waterfalls.
Caves and waterfalls abound between the villages of Pontneddfechan and Ystradfellte where the Rivers Mellte, Hepste and Nedd Fechan plunge their way down steep-sided, tree-lined gorges.
Worm's Head is reputedly the 7th most photographed sunset in the world!
