Itinerary ideas - Families
Although in reality most places in Britain are child friendly, we've put together an itinerary idea for a dream 3 week break if you had slightly older children. This itinerary covers some great things for the adults to do and see as well as the things kids and teens love most.
Day 1 - 4 London
London is packed with great things for kids and adults alike. From sightseeing to a ride on the London eye to a visit to the Tower of London and a wander round Madame Tussauds, no matter how much time you spend here, there will always be far more to come back for.
Day 5 - 6 Stratford and Warwick
On day 5 leave London for Stratford on Avon. Spend the afternoon wandering around the delighful Shakespearian town, take tea in a tudor tea house, and see where the bard himself would hang out. On day 6 visit the nearby Warwick castle, a fantastic castle that's been transformed into a medieval theme park, perfect for the kids.
Day 7 - 8 Alton Towers
On day 7 head north bound for Britain's number 1 theme park, Alton Towers. Stay in one of the brilliantly themed park hotels and enjoy the fantastic hotel fun pool, designed just for kids (and big kids!). On day 8 take in some of Europe's biggest rides in the park itself.
Day 9 - 10 York
On day 9 why not head
up to York, the fantastic historic city. In York there's loads to see, do and learn. You could take in the spectacular York Minster Cathedral while the kids learn some hands on interactive history at the York Viking Centre.
Day 11 - 12 Manchester
As well as fantastic shopping and some great museums and galleries, Manchester is home to the world's most famous football team Manchester United. Sports fans in the family will undoubtedly want to visit the historic ground and museum while younger family members will enjoy the brilliant Legoland Discovery Centre.
Day 13 - 15 Blackpool
No trip to the north is complete without a visit to the world famous English seaside resort of Blackpool. Blackpool's pleasure beach is Britain's biggest theme park while the famous tower is a must. With ammusement arcades as far as the eye can see, younger family members can enjoy a traditional donkey ride along the beach.
Day 18 - 20 Lake District
The pace can slow down a little here as you visit England's most stunning National Park. Mountains, lakes and delightfully English towns, you can't help loving this place. The kids arn't left out though, boat rides, water sports and the cute Beatrix Potter museum will keep them well entertained.
Day 19 - 21 Edinburgh - London
A trip to Edinburgh is sure to be enjoyed by all. You can lose yourself in the small streets, wander through incredible shops and of course explore the famous castle overlooking the city. On day 21 it's a sad day for all as you head back to London for
the journey home.
