Arrival at Buxted Park Hotel
Arrive and settle into Buxted Park Hotel, an elegant Georgian country house set amid 312 acres of beautifully maintained gardens and woodland in the heart of East Sussex. The grand mansion combines historic charm with refined luxury, creating a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere for the days ahead.
Spend the evening exploring the hotel’s opulent interiors, enjoying its fine dining restaurant, and soaking up the tranquil English countryside setting that will serve as your base throughout this special trip.
Penshurst Place, Picnic & Opening Night at Glyndebourne
Begin the day with a guided visit to Penshurst Place & Gardens, home to the Sidney family since 1552. One of England’s oldest and finest family-owned estates, it features a magnificent medieval Baronial Hall, elegant state rooms, and 11 acres of stunning walled gardens in the Kent countryside.
In the afternoon, arrive at Glyndebourne to experience the legendary picnic tradition. Your traditional hamper — filled with Glyndebourne’s signature sausage roll, freshly baked bread, salads and half a bottle of wine per person — will be served by your own personal waiter in the Vegetable Patch Lawn, with a guaranteed covered spot should the weather turn.
Then take your stalls seats for an unforgettable evening performance of Puccini’s Tosca — one of opera’s most dramatic and beloved works — in the intimate and world-renowned Glyndebourne Opera House.
Great Dixter, Chapel Down Winery & Second Night at Glyndebourne
A morning tour of Great Dixter House & Gardens — one of Britain’s most celebrated gardens, combining a historic 15th-century house with spectacular planting designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and developed by the Lloyd family. Famous for its vibrant borders, topiary, wildflower meadows and exotic garden, it is a must-visit for any lover of the English landscape.
Enjoy lunch at The Swan at Chapel Down Vineyard — refined English dining with seasonal local produce and award-winning Chapel Down wines — before a short guided tour and tasting at Chapel Down Winery itself, England’s leading producer of still and sparkling wines, set in the rolling Kent countryside near Tenterden.
Return to Glyndebourne for your second evening of opera, before being transferred back to the hotel.
